Population & Steets in Moose City: The Right Estimates

Moose City is situated on the northern border of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. It is an important railway junction and is home to CFB Moose Jaw, a NATO flight training school and home to the Snowbirds aerobatic air show team. The area is also known for its geothermal spa and casino. In past centuries, the area was used by the Cree and Assiniboine people as an encampment during the winter. The Missouri Coteau sheltered the valley and provided warm breezes, making it a good location for settlement. The first permanent settlement was created by Metis buffalo hunters at Kingsway Park.

Gold was discovered in the late sixties in this area by Ernest Hilton, William Shepard, and Tommy O'Brien. Within a few weeks of the discovery, two hundred people rushed to the town, and the community was established. The town had a jail, saloon, butcher shop, and three general stores. However, after seven years of unsuccessful diggings, the gold was found in the nearby Sand Creek and was never mined.
