The town of Ranson is an industrial center that boomed in the late nineteenth century. The area has a mix of major corporations and quiet residential neighborhoods. Most of the houses are turn-of-the-century constructions, displaying the styles and designs of that era. Most of the houses in Ranson are single-family or two-story dwellings. Some newer homes have been constructed on vacant lots. New developments are centered along the four-lane Route 9.
