North Garden, Virginia Statistic: Population, Charts, Map, Steets and More

The Village of North Garden City is located on relatively flat land. As such, it was often used for military purposes during the Civil War, Spanish-American War, and World War I. Camp Albert Mills was established to the southeast of town. After the latter war, it was decommissioned and Mitchel Field was established to the east. The city still has its own volunteer fire department and police force. It also has a public library, which was founded in 1952.

While both towns are growing in diversity, they remain highly segregated. Garden City has a larger minority of black and Hispanic residents than its neighbor, Hempstead. The city is home to several high-end grocery stores and a diverse population. The two communities are also separated by a large stretch of highway, which makes getting to work in either one of them difficult.

The Garden City Public Library provides free, public access to books for its students and residents. The Library also hosts a variety of events and workshops for local residents. The library is located on the east side of the city and is accessible to residents and students. In addition, it offers free internet access for residents and businesses.

The city is home to approximately 7,338 households. Twenty-five percent of households included children under the age of 18. Seventy-nine percent of households were headed by married couples, while seven percent were headed by a single female. The remaining 19.2% of households were made up of individuals and one-person households. Twelve percent of households had senior citizens living alone. The average household size was 2.83 and a family size of 3.27.
