The city was originally known as Glenglade in the 1890s. It was incorporated as a lumber camp in 1896, on the southern branch of Blacklick Creek, which forms the border between Jackson Township and Blacklick Township. This city has a unique history and culture. Today, it's home to several organizations and businesses, including the University of Pittsburgh, a local museum, and a historic theatre.
