The Township government in Hanover Township is based on the traditional Township form of government. Five members serve on the Township Committee and are elected at large in partisan elections. The Township Committee elects a Mayor and Deputy Mayor each year. Hanover Township's politics are decidedly Republican, with no more than five seats up for election at any time. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are elected by the Township at its reorganization meeting.
