The Boardman city is located in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. According to the 2020 census, the population of Boardman City will be 38,592 people. The city was incorporated 101 years ago, in 1920. Boardman is one of two major retail centers in the Mahoning Valley. It is home to the Boardman Park Allotment and Forest Glen. The city's growth continued during the 1930s, as the city expanded and developed Glenwood Avenue and Market Street. This development was a stepping stone toward residential desirability.

The town of Old Town is situated one mile southeast of the original town site. A backwater from the John Day Dam covers the area.
