Cheviot is a city in Hamilton County, Ohio with a population of 9,015 at the 2000 census. Its name comes from the Cheviot Hills in southern Scotland. John Craig purchased 320 acres of Green Township from Elias Boudinot and laid out the village. In 1818, he named the township after the Cheviot Hills in Scotland.
