The Town of Pitcher is located in Chenango County, New York. According to the 2010 census, the town had an estimated population of eight hundred and thirty-three. It is situated on the western border of Chenango County, west of Norwich. The town was originally settled sometime around 1794. In 1827, parts of Pitcher and Lincklaen were merged, and the town grew with another portion added to the north in 1833. Its western town line is also the border with Cortland County. Its Otselic River flows through the town. It is a tributary of the Tioughnoga River and part of the Susquehanna River watershed.

The town's population is well-represented by the number of households, with 40 percent of the population being under the age of eighteen.
