He was buried next to his wife, Ann.

The City's railroad spur was built to Indianola in 1870. The railway had four stopovers a day. The passenger train stopped two times in Lacona, and mail and grain were sent on the freight train. In addition, a side spur serviced the grist mill. By the early part of the twentieth century, the city's railroad depot was constructed in a block building west of the downtown area. A blacksmith shop and a house were purchased on Main Street. In the spring of the following year, Judy's Dairy Sweet opened on the west side of the city.
