New Prague, Minnesota Statistic: Population, Charts, Map, Steets and More

The history of New Prague City begins with a log cabin east of the community. This cabin was about 20 feet by 10 feet and contained two rooms, one with a window and one with a homemade door. The roof was made of dirt and straw. The family of twelve lived in the cabin. Later, the Philipp family built a brick home, west of the railroad depot.

In addition, the study highlights the city's history and the major historic themes that shaped its development. These themes include the economic, social, and political forces that shaped the city's development and construction. These themes are constantly changing, because the community's needs change over time. Consequently, the study does not represent an exhaustive inventory. It is a starting point for future evaluations and research regarding the city's historic properties.

The land where Prague was to be built has been populated since the Paleolithic Age. As a result, trade routes passed through the area. The first people to inhabit the area were members of the Celt tribe, called the Boii. These people named the region Bohemia, after the river Vltava.

The agricultural economy in the area has always been important to the local economy. The New Prague area became a major market for farm produce and produced many agricultural businesses in the area. Farmers in the surrounding area couldn't process the harvested grain immediately, so grain elevators were built to store it and sell it. This resulted in a large commercial district along Main Street.
