Omer City is often referred to as Michigan's Smallest City. It was officially incorporated in 1903 and at the time of the 2010 census it ranked second to Lake Angelus in Oakland County. Its population was estimated to be 259 in 2020, and as of that date, there are a little over two hundred residents. The city was founded in 1903, but was plagued by two disasters that severely damaged its infrastructure. A fire in 1914 destroyed 40 buildings, and a flood in 1916 washed out the local dam.
