Lapeer City, Michigan, is a small town in eastern Michigan. It lies north of Interstate 69 on the south branch of the Flint River. The name Lapeer was given to the town by French and Indian traders because of its rocky river bed. In French, the name means "stone." This small city is home to several notable sports figures, including Kirk Gibson of the Detroit Tigers, Tom Wargo of the Miami Dolphins, Jake Long of the Miami Dolphins, and Rob Rubick, former Detroit Lion.
