In the United States, the population of West Forks is 3,335 people, making it the third-most-populous city in Washington. The city was previously known as Quillayute, a unincorporated town in southwest Clallam County. Its name comes from the nearby rivers Forks and Quillayute, which are both named for tributaries of the Columbia River.

The population of West Forks City was last assessed in 2010. The median age was 31.3 years old, and the population included 29.2% of people who were under the age of 18. Those who were 25 years old and older accounted for 25.0% of the total population was 45 to 64 years old, while 8.5% was 65 and older. The gender makeup of the city was 51.5% male and 48.9% female.

Grand Forks is home to a sister city program. The city is a political alliance with Dickinson, North Dakota. The first sister city in Grand Forks was Ishim, a former Soviet Union city. The relationship began during the Cold War, and progressed slowly due to the red tape. After glasnost, however, the two cities were reunited and the first in-person exchanges took place. Sadly, due to the political and economic turmoil in Russia, the relationship has since cooled.

The university of North Dakota is the largest university in the state and is home to more than a million people. The city has 198 American Indian/Native American students, 10,693 White people, and 335 Black/African Americans. There are also 252 Asian students, four Hispanic students, and 504 people of other races. The population of West Forks City is 762,000.
