Indian Island, Maine Statistic: Population, Charts, Map, Steets and More

The city's South Asian population is growing, and it now comprises a little more than a fifth of the city's total population. Most of the South Asians come from the Caribbean, primarily Trinidad and Guyana. The remaining population is comprised of the descendants of former slaves.

The city's housing problems have been caused in part by economic inequality. As the city's population has increased, so has the price of real estate. Many residents are forced to live in small, cramped homes. This has led to increased social segregation and residential differentiation.
