The Village of Western Springs is a Chicago suburb. The population was approximately 12,975 at the 2010 census. It was named after the mineral springs that are located in the area. In the beginning, this area was flat prairie land with a swamp on the western border. Today, the Village of Western Springs is home to three public elementary school districts and one public high school. There is a local church that serves the area.

The Village of Western Springs is governed by Alice Gallagher. The community is located within Illinois's 3rd congressional district. Dan Lipinski, a resident of Western Springs, succeeded his father, Bill Lipinski, who had been the district's congressman for many years. Lipinski, who had lived in Illinois for 15 years, had not lived in the district before, but he won the election largely because of his name recognition. His victory was contested by Democrat Marie Newman.
