The city of Florida City is a suburb of Miami, Florida. It is part of Miami-Dade county and borders the Florida Keys. The city is primarily an agricultural area, but there are also several hotels and restaurants that cater to tourists. Both Florida City and Homestead were severely damaged by Hurricane Andrew in August 1992.

The city is home to several military installations, including the HHT 1-153 CAV of the Florida Army National Guard's 53rd Infantry Brigade. The United States Navy also maintains its Naval Support Activity Panama City in the city, which supports various training and research projects. Panama City is also just 100 miles from Fort Rucker, Alabama, which has a US Army Aviation Center of Excellence.
