In the early 20th century, Pacific Grove was known for attracting renowned writers and artists. It was here that John Steinbeck and his wife Carol lived for many years. During his stay, Steinbeck hosted his writer friends, including the famous painters Ed Ricketts and Bruce Nauman. Today, the city is an art and music destination and is home to the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History.
